John Bunyan Quot

"When thou prayest, rather let thy heart be without words then thy words be without heart." John Bunyan

John Bunyan said this in reference to colossians 4:12. Witch says "Epaphras, who is one of you, a slave of Christ Jesus, greets you. He is always contending for you in his prayers, so that you can stand mature and fully assured in everything God wills."

Have you ever noticed that some Christens will pray for ever, rambling on and on about some of the sames stuff that they said before. Well I think that John Bunyan meant think of what you will says and then pray it. Because what you say is what God hears.

  1. I have felt very convicted about a similar topic lately. I have a family of six and up until about two weeks ago, we would take turns going around the dinner table giving everyone a chance to pray. While our original goal was for the kids to know the importance of prayer, the result ended up being lots of rote prayers about everything maybe including the meal we were thanking God for.
God began pressing on me that what we were doing was taking away from the importance of a simple prayer of thanksgiving for a simple provision He never fails to provide.
Our prayers had become a 'catch all' for all the things we wanted to pray for but didn't feel like taking the time to actually pray for (other than at dinner).

Thanks for this quote. Prayer, just like everything else, is a beautiful gift God gives us that we tend to mess up. = )

when all I have to do is pray from the heart.
