Backward Christian soldiers

1John 4:8 The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Ray Comfort said"If we don't have love and compassion, then we don't know God; we are impostors."

Charles Spurgeon said, "Have you no wish for others to be saved then you are not saved yourself be sure of that." some one wrote.

"Backward Christian soldiers, fleeing from the fight With the cross of Jesus nearly out of sight. Christ, our rightful master, stands against the foe But froward into battle, we are loathe to go.

Like a mighty tortoise moves the Church of God Brothers, we are treading where we've always trod. We are much divided, many bodies we. Having many doctrines, not much charity.

crowns and thorns may perish, kingdoms rise and wane, but the Church of Jesus hidden dose remain. Gates of hell should never 'gainst the Church prevail. We have Christ's own promise, but think that it will fail.

sit here then, ye people, join our useless throng, blend with our's your voices in a feeble song. Blessings, ease and comfort, ask from Christ the King, with our modern thinking, we don't do a thing." (anonymous)

  1. So True. I love how it puts it, many times we just want to run from the fight when we should be running towards it. Thanks for the post.

  2. This cracked me up, in a sad and sobering sort of way. I have heard the "Sitting on the Premises of God" instead to "Standing on the Promises of God." Complacency and comfort are killing the church slowly.

    Thanks for writing.

  3. I like this Blog and just became one of your 'followers.' Good meaty scriptures and side notes too!
Thank you for your good effort. I write a Christian based Journal too: "Tom's Journal."
