1Co 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from a spiritual rock that followed them, and that rock was Christ.
1Co 10:5 But God was not pleased with most of them, for they were struck down in the desert.
1Co 10:6 Now these things became examples for us, so that we will not desire evil as they did.
Now as you can see St Paul is talking about Moses, and the point is for us, so that we will not desire evil as they did. John Wesley said for explanatory notes "Now these things were our examples - Showing what we are to expect if, enjoying the like benefits, we commit the like sins. The benefits are set down in the same order as by Moses in Exodus; the sins and punishments in a different order; evil desire first, as being the foundation of all; next, idolatry, 1Co_10:7, 1Co_10:14; then fornication, which usually accompanied it, 1Co_10:8; the tempting and murmuring against God, in the following verses.
